Dellann Campbell, later Dellann Campbell-Fultz, 1936-2023, was appointed to the Cumberland City Council in 1986, elected to that position in 1988 and served in office through 1992. She was one of only seven women to have served on the City Council of Cumberland.

Ray Beall lost to George Wyckoff in his 1984 bid to be elected Mayor of the City of Cumberland.

Wallace G. Ullery (1922-2017), was a former Cumberland City Clerk. Using the campaign slogan, “There must be a better way to do things," Ullery was elected to the Cumberland City Council serving as Finance Commissioner from 1978 through 1982. It was in that year he ran for Mayor of Cumberland, losing to George Wyckoff in the General Election.

Herb Stallings and Creed G. Smith both made unsuccessful bids for a seat on the Cumberland City Council. Stallings ran in 1978, while Smith made two attempts, the first in 1974, and again in 1978.

Mary Beth Pirolozzi was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Cumberland City Council in September 2007. She was formally elected to the city council in November 2008. She is one of only six women to have served on the City Council of Cumberland. Pirolozzi chose not to run for city council re-election in 2012. In August 2017 Mary Beth Pirolozzi was appointed by the Allegany County Orphans Court to fill the vacant position of Register of Wills.

The future is bright for Cumberland, and I want to be an integral part of the team, along with you, the citizens, that keeps making good things happen.

Harvey W. May Jr. was first elected to the Cumberland City Council in 1982, and was re-elected to that position in 1986, 1990, 1994, and 1998. He retired from public office in 2003. In 1986, and with the slogan “Your Voice in Annapolis”, May made an unsuccessful bid for election to the Maryland House of Delegates, District 1-B.

Brian K. Grim was elected to the Cumberland City Council in 2008. Though he placed second in the Primary Election, Grim was the top vote-getter for the city council in the following General Election. Two years prior, in 2006, Grim, a Democrat, lost to Delegate LeRoy Myers, a Republican, in a bid for election to the Maryland House of Delegates. Grim was elected Mayor of Cumberland in the November 2010 General Election. He was re-elected in 2014 but was defeated in a re-election bid in the November 6, 2018 General Election by Ray Morriss.
