Hagerstown, West Washington Street. R.M. Hays store Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

The store on West Washington Street was next door to the Baldwin Hotel. On the right of the photograph is a restaurant selling "OYSTERS IN ALL STYLES". In the top floor of the Hays building is the Columbia College, a Business School.

In the facade on the corner of the Hays building is a globe with the same lettering as used by the Globe newspapers that R.M. Hays' brother, Ira, ran for 35 years. There is no other sign of the newspaper publishing company although it was run through the R.M. Hays store.
