Rose's Shoe Store on north Potomac was a fixture for a number of years. The 1893 Hagerstown City Directory had an entry:
Rose A Mrs and Daughter, (Mrs A and Miss E) boots and shoes 33 N Potomac.

On the corner by the Square is a distillery.

The City Hall on the right hand side of the street is the second city hall, built in 1818. The current City Hall was built in 1941.
