Neither of the Singers were present at the Museum's July 15,1930 laying of the cornerstone, but, in the halting language of a telegraph, Anna Brugh Singer made her feelings known to Mavin J. Hamilton, the President of the Museum Committee, saying, "Hearty congratulations and appreciation to you and committee for all you have accomplished may the Museum fill its aim - Singers."
