William H. Singer, Jr. and the King of Norway.

King Haakon VII honors William H. Singer, Jr. Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

The Norwegian King Haakon VII presided over the opening of the road connecting the village of Olden to neighboring Innvik on June 24, 1936. Prior to the building of the road, the there was no direct route between the villages. It was only financial support from the Singers that made this road possible. At the opening of the road King Haakon awarded William the honor of the star of the Order of St Olav. William and Anna Singer were known for this form of generosity towards their Norwegian neighbors. They made frequent gifts to individuals and employees, and also financed a 40 bed hospital near their Olden home.
