Patriotic Concert at Antietam Cemetery
PATRIOTIC CONCERT AT ANTIETAM CEMETERY
The Fourth Annual Sacred and Patriotic Concert, a memorial to the "Blue" and the "Gray" who fell at Antietam, will be held in the Antietam National Cemetery on Sunday evening, September 12, at 4 o'clock.
These services have been held for the past three years and excellent programs rendered, but this being the 75th Anniversary of the Battle, every effort is being made to have a most outstanding program.
The First Maryland Regiment Band of Frederick, one of the noted musical organizations of the State, will render a fine concert and the Cumberland Valley Choristers, under the direction of Prof. Charles M. Cassell, will give a vocal program in the excellent style for which this celebrated organization is noted. Under the direction of Prof. Cassell they very recently won high honors at the Mountain Lake Musical Festival, so that music lovers are assured of quite a treat at this memorial program. Assisting these organizations will be the massed choirs from the churches of Sharpsburg, Keedysville, Boonesboro, Williamsport and Shepherdstown.
The Processional through the National Cemetery of the vested choirs will be a scene of impressive beauty, possibly never equaled in any outdoor services in this section of the country.
Owing to the number of strangers now visiting in the County for the Antietam Commemoration, a very large crowd will likely attend this service.
