The Speicher Horse Barn was built about 1910 by Fred Fox of Friendsville, Maryland. Besides Belgian and Percheron, American farm horses were also bred and sold by the Speichers.
The barn burned on Friday, October 30, 1931. No horses or other animals were housed in the barn at the time.

Family of Mary Miller Strauss

Reverse: One thing I (Grace Speicher von Schlicten) remember well regarding the big stallions. We kids hung around the barn watching Harrison Kamp manicure (actually) the hooves and varnish them, and braid ribbons in their manes and tails to ready them for the fair. Built about 1912-1913. Kept a few milk cows in the barn 1927-1928. According to a note found in an ancient diary, uncle Harvey’s horse barn in town burnt on Friday Oct 30 (Halloween on Sat) 1931
