Remarks:
From letter: "At the Battle of Antietam I lost my right leg above the Knee. In that battle my regiment the 3rd. Brigade 12th. Army Corps, this Corps commanded by Gen Mansfield who was killed there. I was wounded early in the Battle. My command was in corn field at that time.
I will state the 3rd. Wis, was stationed in "Fredrick City" the winter of 62 and 63. We captured a few members of the Legislature thus saving Maryland to the Union. I am 95 years old.
