Response to veterans

Copy of letter sent to veterans who were unable to come to the commemoration. Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

August 10, 1937.

Mr. Joshua Vincent Davis
63 Quaker Lane South
Hartford, Conn.

Honored Veteran:
We gratefully acknowledge receipt of the information you kindly sent us in response to our invitation to meet with your former comrades and to pay tribute to the 23,300 who fell in the battle of Antietam.

It is also noted, with deep regret, that you will be unable to be present on this notable occasion. We know that you will be thinking of those early heart throbs in war troubled days as our celebration is in progress. Out thoughts will likewise blend with yours for those who are absent from this reunion, both the living and the dead.

Cordially yours.

Roy A. Leiter, Chairman
Hospitality Committee
For Park W. T. Loy
United States Antietam Celebration
