Chapter III.

Buildings - Churches - Educational Advantages

There are only a few public buildings in Hagerstown. The principal one is the County Court House, a handsome building of its kind which cost about $100,000. The Town Market
House is a venerable building, well adapted for the purpose. Bellevue Asylum is situated in the midst of a fertile farm, near the outskirts of the town, which was given for the purpose by a public spirited citizen. It is regarded as a model institution of the kind.
