THEATRES AND HALLS.

Hagerstown is bountifully supplied with places of amusement. The Academy of Music, which was opened in 1880, is a gem of a Theatre. It is located in the heart of the town and is approached through a broad hallway in the Baldwin House, somewhat after the manner of Niblo's Garden, New York. Its decorations and appointments are upon the same style as those of leading theatres in large cities. The stage is remarkably spacious for the size of the house, and the acoustic properties are admirable. In addition to this, there are several other spacious and complete halls. The principal one of these is the "Hose Opera House," in the handsome new building of the Hose Fire Company on Potomac street.
