erate dead from the fields of South Mountain and Antietam. A modest but beautiful monument has been erected over these remains by the States of Maryland and Virginia. Rose Hill Cemetery is owned by a company of which Ex-Gov. Wm. T. Hamilton is president. It was dedicated in 1867.

FAIR.
One of the conspicuous institutions of Hagerstown is the Agricultural Fair which is held annually in October and attracts thousands of strangers to the town. There are sometimes as many as 25,000 visitors in a single day
