CHAPTER V.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS—MANUFACTORIES- BANKS, &c.

There are five Banks and Banking Houses in the city, besides a National Bank at Williamsport, a few miles away. One of the banks in the town is a substantial National Bank; another an old State Bank, which is regarded as one of the most solid in the State; a Banking House, and two Loan and Savings Banks. Besides these, the Insurance Companies lend money. It will be seen from this that the banking facilities are sufficient to meet any demand likely to arise. The old Hagerstown
