Ronald Lohr, a Democrat, was an unsuccessful candidate in the November 2, 2010 General Election for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 1C. Lohr promoted himself as the "Voice of the People", pledging "I Want To Work For You".

LeRoy E. Myers Jr., a Republican, was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2002, and began service as a Delegate in January 2003. Myers represents District 1C which includes portions of Allegany and Washington Counties. In seeking re-election in 2010, and as noted on the pencil, stressed his efforts in "Making Government Accountable". Myers was re-elected in the November 2010 General Election. Myers chose not to run for re-election to the House of Delegates in 2014, but instead ran for and was elected to the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

Wendell Beitzel, a Republican, represents District 1A which consists of all of Garrett and a portion of Allegany County. Beitzel was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2006 and has served as a Delegate since January 2007. He was re-elected in the November 2010 General Election. This newspaper advetisement appeared in the October 28, 2010 edition of Garrett County's the Republican newspaper. Beitzel was re-elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in the November 2014 General Election.

James "Smokey" Stanton, a Democrat, unsuccessfully sought election in 2010 to the Maryland House of Delegates, District 1A, which represents all of Garrett County and a portion of Allegany County. This newspaper advetisement appeared in the September 9, 2010 edition of Garrett County's the Republican newspaper.

The two "Pray for Me" buttons portrayed on this page opposing Myers and Beitzel were distributed at the Sixth Annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit which was sponsored by the Western Maryland Democratic Caucus and held in Allegany County on April 23-24, 2010. The buttons characterize the Democratic Party's opposition to these two Republican candidates.
