Dolores Velma Harris, 75, formerly of Cumberland and residing at King-Queen Court House, Va., died on Saturday, Nov 8, 2003, at her home.

Born Sept. 9, 1928, Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late James Emmit Darr and Gladys Beatrice (Chandler) Darr. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harris, 1994. A graduate of Carver High School, Mrs. Harris was retired from the New York City Board of Education. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, King-Queen Court House. Dolores is survived by two sisters, Alice R. Darr, Cumberland and Claudine C. Darr, Cumberland; two half-sisters; Betty Ashby, Cumberland and Marcelline Jones, Maysville, N.C.; an uncle, Garland Hopewell Darr, Cumberland; an aunt, Francis Dallas, Detroit, Mich.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Md., on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lewis Twigg officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
