Steve Trimble graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1976 where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He won the 1975 State Championship in the High Hurdles and still holds the school varsity records in the High Hurdles and Triple-Jump.

Steve went on to play college football at the University of Maryland, and professional football as a defensive back for the Denver Broncos. Trimble comes home frequently to speak to youths on the importance of education and need for strong character. In 2006 he was the head football coach at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia. On October 5, 2012 Steve Trimble was posthumously inducted into the Fort Hill High School Hall of Fame. The induction honor took place at Greenway Avenue Stadium in conjunction with the school's 75th anniversary.
