Leon Alton Jones
December 12, 2007

CUMBERLAND - Leon Alton Jones, 79, of Cumberland, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at WMHS-Memorial Campus.

Born July 30, 1928, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James Edward Jones and Opal (Freeman) Jones. Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, James, Calvin and Michael Jones; three sisters, Sarah L. Jones, Elfrieda M. Jones and Jean F. Washington; and a son, Charles V. George. A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Jones retired from the Cumberland Cloak and Suit Store. He was a member of the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church and the Fulton Myers Post 153 American Legion.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Donna J. Jones; his sons, Greg Waites and his wife, Cynthia and Kevin L. Jones; his brother, Roger Jones, all of Cumberland; as well as six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, PA, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ), on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Deas officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
