Surviving are her husband, John Gribbett; two sons, John Gribbett, Jr. and Frederick Spalla, both of Baltimore; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Willison of here; one grandson and four greatgrandchildren.
The body will be returned to the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received after 11 a.m. tomorrow. A service will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m, with the Rev. John Reinsfelder officiating. Interment will be in Percy Cemetery.” [CET 6-3-1969, p. 16]

“David Griffiths, boss miner at the old Consolidation mine, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 1888, of pneumonia, aged 64 years, 2 months and 4 days. Deceased was born in Merthtyr-Tydwyll, Wales, and came to this place in 1860, and has since resided here, an employee of the Consolidation coal company. His wife and six children—five daughters and one son—survive. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at the Welsh Baptist church, of which deceased had been a member for many years. Rev. William Haddock, assisted by Rev. Mr. Harris of the Congregational church, officiated.” [FMJ 10-20-1888, p. 1]

After Elisabeth died, her husband, Hiram Griffith, later married her sister, Julia, in 1867. There is another headstone for Mrs. Griffith in Great Crossings Baptist Church Cemetery in Garrett County, along with one for Hiram and sister, Julia. It is not clear whether Mrs. Griffith is actually buried in Percy Cemetery or at the Great Crossings Cemetery.

“Died. On Wednesday, April 28th, John Griffith, aged about 25 years, son of Alex. Griffith, Esq., of Frostburg. He had been a sufferer for some time from an affection of the heart, an affliction which found its only relief in death. A few hours previous to the end he was confirmed as a member of the Lutheran Church by Rev. D.L. MacKenzie [sic]. This gentleman preached his funeral yesterday afternoon at the church, whence his remains were taken and interred in the cemetery on the hill.” [FMJ 5-1-1875, p. 3]

“Died. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1902, Mrs. Sarah Gunter, wife of Richard Gunter, aged 61 years. Survived by husband and four children, one daughter and three sons, all of this place.” [FMJ 10-4-1902, p. 2]

“Mrs. Richard Gunter, a highly respected resident of this place died at her home on Bowery street, Wednesday night at 11 o’clock, aged 61 years. Mrs. Gunter had been suffering for some time with acute neuralgia of the stomach, which resulted in her death. She was born in Momtuekshire [sic], Wales, September 17, 1841. A husband and four children survive her: William R., Richard and John and Mrs. George Eisel, all of Frostburg. The funeral will take place Saturday evening at 2 o’clock from the residence on Bowery street. Rev. W. T. White, of the Main street Baptist church preaching the funeral sermon. Interment will be made in Federal Hill [Percy] cemetery. Mrs. Gunter was noted and well beloved by all for her sweet desposition [sic] and Christian character doing good for all she could and lending a helping hand in a kind and friendly way to many who needed the encouragement of a true and thoughtful friend.” [CET 11-10-1902, p. 3]
