David Percy Hartzell, aged 54 years, died at his home on Cumberland street at 3:45 o’clock this morning after an illness of meningitis of the brain of which he was a sufferer for ten months. Mr. Hartzell was a victim of influenza last October and had been in ill health ever since. Surviving are his wife, who was before her marriage, Miss Margaret Elizabeth Williams of Frostburg, two sons—Foster Hartzell, Bartlesville, Okla., and Henry Hartzell, at home; one sister—Mrs. Edward Light; two halfsisters—Mrs. Ruth Husted and Mrs. Bessie Hill, and a stepmother, Mrs. C.F. Hartzell, all of Hyndman. Funeral arrangements will be completed after the arrival of Foster Hartzell from Bartlesville.” [CET 9-4-1919, p. 1];

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, after which the funeral party will go by automobile to Frostburg, where interment will be made in the Percy cemetery. The following will act as pallbearers: Albert C. Grant, Allan B. Spier, John T. Edwards, F.W. Burrows, F.B. Jenkins and D.D. Price. Foster Hartzell, a son, is on his way from Oklahoma and will arrive early tomorrow.” [CET 9-5-1919, p. 8]
