a. 62

“At his home, this place, Monday, March 21, Mr. Simeon Rizer, aged 62 years. He had been ill several months. Last autumn he sustained an injury of one of his legs, which he neglected. One morning several weeks ago, he arose about 4 o’clock to renew the fire. In doing so the injured leg broke. All that surgical skill could do to get the parts reunited was done, but vainly. He steadily declined and died as stated. His trouble—called by the surgeons osteo-sarcoma—cancerous bone, is a rare one. He was a soldier of the civil war, on the Union side. The funeral took place Wednesday in the M.E. Church, South, Rev. G.C. Harris, of the Eckhart M.E. Church, officiating.” [FMJ 3-26- 1898, p. 2]
