“Mrs. Lena Wenck, aged 70, died at her home, 174 Mechanic street, this morning from heart trouble.
Mrs. Wenck was born in Frostburg and was a life long member of the Zion Evangelical Church. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Frostburg Fire Department, of which her husband is a charter member.
Surviving is her husband, eight daughters, Mrs. Lillian Chadwick, Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Harry McGettigan, Morgantown, W. Va.; Mrs. Wm. Kidwell, Mrs. H.C. Moore and Mrs. George Shubert, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Ella Burdock, Mrs. Ralph De Paula, Thomas, W. Va.; and Mrs. Henry Stafford, this city and two sons, Frank Wenck, this city, and Bernard Wenck, Thomas, W. Va.; one sister, Mrs. John Geis, and one brother, Henry Lapp, both of Frostburg.”
The funeral will probably be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the residence. Rev. Harry Yaggi, pastor of the Zion Evangelical Church, will officiate. Interment will be in McLuckie cemetery [sic; the records of the Zion Evangelical Church show Mrs. Wenck was buried in Percy Cemetery.][CET 5-27-1931]

“William Wink [sic], aged 77, native and lifelong resident of Frostburg, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lillian Chadwick, Toledo, Ohio, Saturday morning. Mr. Wink was a prominent member of the local fire department and at the time of his death was visiting his daughter. He survived by seven daughters: Mrs. Wm. Kidwell, Mrs. Minnie Moore, Mrs. George Schubert, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Harry McGattigan, Morgantown, W. Va.; Mrs. Alex Burdock and Mrs. Henry Stafford, Frostburg; and three sons, William Wink, Pittsburgh, and Frank and Bernard Wink, Frostburg. Funeral services will be conducted from the family home on Mechanic street, Monday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Harry Yaggi of the Zion Evangelical church will officiate. Interment will be in Percy cemetery.” [CET 10-2-1932, p. 22]

“Joseph Whetstone died suddenly Tuesday afternoon of heart failure, aged 81 years and 5 months. He was born in Selbysport, Garrett County, then Allegany County. Mr. Whetstone is survived by five sons and one daughter, all of this place. Funeral Thursday afternoon from the ME Church, Rev. T.M. West officiating.” [FMJ 5-20-1897, p.]

“Mr. Joseph Whetstone died very suddenly Tuesday afternoon, May 25 [sic], from old age, at his home on Hill street. He was aged 81 years. Five sons and one daughter survive him. They are Messrs. Peter, Joseph, John, Bradford and Frank, and Mrs. John Powell, all of this place. Funeral will probably take place Thursday afternoon.” [The Review, 5-28-1897, cited in Feldstein's Historic Papers, v. II, p. 39]

“MINE WORKER FATALLY INJURED AT ZIHLMAN. Was Repairing Tracks At Annan and Jeffries Shaft When Crushed by Cars. Crushed beneath five runaway cars loaded with coal in a shaft of the Annan and Jeffries Mines at Zihlman, Md., Albert Williams, 51 years old, was fatally injured late yesterday afternoon.
Williams, a track repairer in the mines, and who lives in Zihlman, died at Miners’ Hospital, Frostburg, where he was taken. His legs were broken and he suffered fractures of the skull and collarbone and internal injuries, according to Dr. J.C. Cobey, of Frostburg, who examined him at
