“Died. At the family home Sunday evening, January 24, 1909, Mrs. Anna Margaret [sic] Yungerman, in the 72d year of her age, wife of Melchoir Yungerman, 38 Broadway, this place. She had been seriously ill about a month. To her husband her death brings an irreparable loss, and to her children, an occasion of remembering the devotion and service of a loving mother. Of these, there are four daughters—Mrs. William Schell, Mrs. John Pressman, Mrs. John Baum and Mrs. Marvin Layman, and three sons—Messrs. Justus, J. Conrad, and John—all of this place. The funeral Wednesday was conducted by Rev. G.E. Metzger, with services both at the residence and at Salem Reformed Church, of which Mrs. Yungerman was a member.” [FMJ 1-30-1909]

“Died. Saturday evening, August 12, 1893, Emma, daughter of J.C. Yungerman, aged 7 years, 11 months and 7 days. She had been ill with spinal trouble.” [FMJ 8-19-1893, p. 3]

Notice of young Emma's funeral was located in SPL.

“Melchoir Youngerman [sic], born Nov. 17, 1826, at Hilligessousen Kerhessen, Germany, emmigrated [sic] to the United States in 1854. Married Miss Anna Martha Rase [Rehs] in 1855, died at Frostburg, Md., Sept. 5, 1912, in his 86th year. He left the following children: Mrs. John Pressman, Jr., Mrs. Barbara Shell [sic], Mrs. Anna Baum, of Cumberland, Mrs. Sophia Layman, J.C. Youngerman [sic], Justis [sic] Youngerman[sic] and John Youngerman[sic]. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 2 p.m., with services at the house, Rev. Geo. E. Metzger officiating. The funeral will be in charge of the Red Men. Interment will be made in the Percy cemetery.” [CET 9-6-1912, p. 6]

In 1884, Mr. Yungerman asked City Council for permission to erect and run a ten-pin alley on his premises on Broadway St. He introduced a letter signed by several neighbors who gave their consent and even recommendation for the bowling alley. Permission was granted to Mr. Yungerman [City Council Minutes, June 2, 1884]
