Marble in local use

Rines' cave Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

Detail of the floor of the cave or root cellar on the Kefauver homestead. The marble piece near the lintel shows the clear signs of the even drill marks.

Lockwood Rines, the operator of the Washington Monument Company, a mile away, probably brought the marble from the quarry for this construction project. There is no marble on the land.
