This postcard is from the collection of Patricia Hammond.

There are two Lancelot Shanks listed in the 1870 census, both farmers, one living in Clear Spring district, the other at Green Spring Furnace. The Cherry Run B&O postoffice was in West Virginia, across the river from Big Pool.
