Article in Hagerstown Mail, 1889 - "The Canal To Be Repaired."

THE CANAL TO BE REPAIRED.—The President, and Directors of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, at a recent meeting, determined to issue $100,000 of Repair Bonds; to restore the dam No. 6 and repair damages.— It is also stated that Messrs. Mertens’ Sons, of Cumberland have offered to erect the dam for $60,000 payable, in the bonds. -The water was let into the canal below Dam No. 4, and it is now navigable from that point to Georgetown.
