Elks Lodge, 1904-1909

South Potomac Click on the MEDIA ITEMS below for more information

The Elks Hall was in the first block of South Potomac from the Square. The shop in the ground floor is A. W. MUNSON, FURNITURE, CARPETS, RUGS, MATTINGS, DRAPERIES, STOVES, ETC. (per their advertisement in the 1907 telephone book, also on this website.) There are rolls of carpet by the door. Munson's Furniture and Carpet Store moved to 39-41 W. Franklin in 1909.

R.M. Hays published this photograph as a postcard. The postcard was also used as an advertisement. The postcard is over printed with "Meet me at the Great Hagerstown Fair and Stop at Hotel Hamilton". The menu was printed on the reverse.

The Elks used the second and third floors for their activities. By 1929 there were 450 Elks.
