Among the five cities in Maryland which the United States census bureau has issued bulletins giving the results of the 1919-1914 census of manufacturers. Cumberland ranks as follows, as shown by figures just compiled for the Times.

Average yearly wage or salary-— First, with $1.339-in 1919 and $583 in 1914, an increase of 129.6 per cent.
Persons engaged—Third, with 4,128 in 1919, and 3.169 in 1914, an increase of 30.3 per cent.
Capital employed—Third, with $10, 282,000 in 1919 and $5,135,000 in 1914, an increase of 100.2 per cent.
Value of product—Third, with $15,- $42,000 in 1919, and $7,113,000 in 1914, an increase of 122.7 per cent.
