FROM ALTOONA TO CUMBERLAND

Modern Highway May Connect Maryland and Pennsylvania Cities.

Jere C. West, president of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, has enlisted the interest of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce in the project of having a modern state highway built from Altoona, through Bedford to this city. The project was launched at a recent meeting of the Bedford Chamber and it was decided to send a delegation to Harrisburg next week to urge Governor Sproul and officials of the Pennsylvania State Highway Commission to authorize the road building. Mr. West has asked that a delegation representing the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce present at the conference at Harrisburg. It is probable that William R. Moore, traffic manager, Cumberland Chamber of Commerce and Tasker G. Lowndes, chairman of good roads committee, will attend.
