DAYLIGHT SAVING HERE IMPROBABLE

Sentiment for Relic of Late War Not Sufficient to Cause Insistance for Reviving It.

The daylight saving plan will not be observed in this city or elsewhere in the county, according to present indications. The Cumberland Chamber of Commerce this morning abandoned its' endeavors to obtain the sentiment of the public for or against the project and will make no effort to bring about the change, in setting time ahead one hour. It was gleaned from returns received at the office that the majority, for adoption of the plan is not large enough to justify it. When balloting was closed this morning the votes stood as follows: Firms, for adoption, eighty; against, 41; employes for, 2,206; against, 2,086.

It was pointed out by an employer, opposed to the measure, that those who wish to begin work and cease work earlier may do so on their own initiative and that the plans of others should not be upset by the wishes of a comparative few.

Baltimore is observing the hour earlier plan but Washington is not.
