County Takes Over Library

The Cumberland Free Public Library and Miners Hospital at Frostburg are operating under new systems effective today.
The library, operated by the City of Cumberland for 36 years, will be part of the Allegany County Library while the hospital is being taken over by a non profit organization after being a state institution since 1912.

Members of the library board are Mrs. Jeanette C. Johnson, James Alfred Avirett, Dr. Adam Baer, County Commissioner John T. Mason, F. Allan Weatherholt, W. Wallace McKaig and Okey Michael.

Being absorbed into the county system besides the Cumberland library are the smaller and more recently established libraries of LaVale, Frostburg and Westernport.
