Library Use Subject Of Conference

Representatives from 33 local and state social service agencies will meet with the staff of the Allegany County Library System during a two-day conference aimed at finding ways to help disadvantaged adults through the expanded use of public library services.

Susan K. Schmidt, coordinator Of the library institute series of the Adult Education Center at Morehead State University, will conduct the meetings Thursday and Friday, from S:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. each day at LaVale Library.

The purposes of the seminar, according to Robert L. Neal, director of the Allegany County Library System, will be to discuss methods of getting more library materials and services to the economically and educationally disadvantaged adults in Allegany County, to explore areas in which the libraries can work more closely with agencies serving the disadvantaged, and to take a look at how the library system might be able to obtain a federal grant to expand its programs for the disadvantaged.
