Manufacturers of Seamless Metal Caskets, Hermetically Sealed Sanitary-Air-Tight-Water-Proof. It can truly be said that Hagerstown has many celebrated manufacturing plants, and among the most prominent is undoubtedly that of the Montross Metal Casket Company, which has been organized for about two years, and is under most successful and able management. The great plant occupies a plot of seven and one-half acres of land, and the total floor space of the modern brick buildings is 185,000 square feet, and every department of the plant throughout is perfectly appointed for the manufacture of high-grade caskets. A tour of inspection through this great plant is very interesting, and the most interesting feature is the operation of one of he several great presses that make a complete seamless burial casket in two minutes actual time. The caskets are made in two pieces, are handsome in appearance, cloth covered, or finished to represent mahogany, quartered oak, etc., and are hermetically sealed, absolutely air tight, water proof, and thoroughly sanitary. The Company are now shipping these caskets to all States of the Union, and there is a great increasing demand for them. The officers of the Company are, L. H. Montross, President; A. C. Strite, Vice-President; C. C. Easton, Secretary and Treasurer, and C. H. Hartmann, General Manager.
