The Belfast Hospital for Sick Children
Falls Road,
Belfast,
14th August, 1942.

General Russel P. Hartle,
U. S. Army Headquarters,
Northern Ireland.

Dear Sir,

BASE BALL GAME 24th JULY, 1942.

At the meeting of the Board of Management of the Hospital held yesterday a letter was received from Mr. Atkinson of the Ulster Branch Rugby Union, enclosing a cheque for £203.6.11 representing one half of the proceeds of the above game.

I have been instructed by the Board to extend to you and to all the members of the U. S. Forces who took part an expression of grateful thanks.

It is generally agreed that even those who did not understand the game were interested in it, and I have been asked to convey special thanks to Colonel Meyer for his racy broadcast, and to the Conductor of the band whose cheerful methods were particularly appreciated.

In this Hospital there is one special cot known us the "Outdoor Sports Cot", and the proceeds of this game will be invested and the interest paid to the support of this cot. As a result there will be a permanent annual subscription of between £7. 0. 0. and £8. 0. 0. which will be credited to the "U. S. Forces in Northern Ireland 1942".

Yours faithfully
