Baseball in Northern Ireland

The American troops needed a diversion after hours of hard training. Baseball was the American way to relax. Further, troops turned their entertainment into a way to raise funds for such causes as The Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, the Ulster Hospital for Children and Women and The Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families’ Association. This photograph shows the team being greeted by Hartle before the game to raise funds for The Lifeboat Fund.
