Mountain Lake Park Hotel

The Mountain Lake Park Hotel
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK, MARYLAND
This hotel, the last of the original summer resort hotels in the mid-Allegheny Mountains, was formally opened July 25th, 1882. Mr. H. H. Van Meter was the proprietor. A short time afterwards the hotel was taken over by W. C. Dunnington who operated the hotel until his death. Since then it has been operated by his daughter, Mrs. June Dunnington Grimes, together in the last few years, with Mrs. Lillian Davis.
This hotel has kept its original Guest Registers
The first registrant was C. N. Sims of Syracuse, New York. Among the hundreds that registered the first season (1882) are listed names of folks from nearby communities many of whose descendants still live here, and perhaps some of those listed are still living.
