Bridgeport, March 10, 1864

Col. Lamon,

I reached my old home in Connecticut about a week ago. I am now busy canvassing the state for the coming election. The election comes off on the 4th day of April. After that time I should be ready to re-enter the Army, if I can get a position, and am worth taking up again. Do you suppose that I could get a position under General Banks?

Most Sincerely
Your Obt Servt
C. H. Russell
