The "Remembering Carver" Facebook page has dozens of newspaper articles and excerpts not only focusing upon Carver but other Cumberland and region-wide African-American activities, events, institutions, and people as well. Schools, parades, the military and more are depicted. As noted on Facebook much of the information and depictions come from the community, and as noted below in the Facebook description the community is encouraged to participate. As of this date, October 2015, many of the images are from or duplicated on this Allegany County African-American history website where additional background information on the subject matter is available. Information on the buttons comes from over forty years of notes, newspaper and magazine clippings, flyers, hand-outs, and other sources associated with the collecting of buttons and used in the research of the 2003 political history poster entitled, Buttons of the Cause, 1960-2003: The Events, The People, The Organizations, The Issues.

In recent years, the following three books were written and published by Allegany College of Maryland Assistant Professor Lynn Bowman. These also provide research and insight into the area’s African-American history:
