Charles "Bubby" William Washington Sr., 63, of Cumberland, died on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at the WMHS Memorial Campus Hospital.

Born July 4, 1941, in Cumberland, he was the son of William Hursia Washington, Denver, Colo., and the late Anna Elizabeth (Yates) Washington. Mr. Washington was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was retired from the City of Cumberland. Mr. Washington was a member of the A.M.E. Metropolitan Church and the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion.

Bubby is survived by his wife, Bettie L. Washington; his son, Charles W. Washington Jr. and his wife Anita Rochelle, Bowie; his stepson, Terry Smith, Cumberland; his brothers, James R. Washington, Cumberland, Jerry E. Washington, Cumberland, and Derrick Lamont Washington, Denver; his sister, Constance Davis and her husband Kenneth, Cumberland; a special sister-in-law, Mary Raiford and her husband, Kevin; three grandchildren; a special friend, Barbara Miltenberg; a special niece, Katelyn Davis, Cumberland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alfred Deas officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
