Danny Darr, a 1965 graduate of Allegany High School, played football, basketball, and ran track for four years. An outstanding running back in football, he was first-team in 1964 leading the Cumberland Valley Athletic League (CVAL) in scoring with 39 points, as well as being the City of Cumberland and Maryland state scoring leader with 96 points. Darr was also a member of the 1964 Maryland Class AA State Basketball Championship team, and excelled in the long jump and relay races in track. She also established a school record by grabbing 30 rebounds in a game against Mt. Savage. In the 1988 girls basketball season she grabbed 283 rebounds which gave her a three-year total of 600 rebounds for an average of 13.3 per game. She was voted onto the All-City and All-Western Maryland Invitational League (WMIL) teams for three seasons.
