Evelyn "Mam Maw" Ruth Peck, 80, formerly of 21 Cresap St., Cumberland, and residing at 134 Blackiston Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 1, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Major Thomas Lee and the late Eva Rose (Johnson) Lee Ashby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Thomas Clarence Peck on Oct. 14, 1986; and a daughter, Yvonne Yvette Peck. Mrs. Peck was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church. Surviving are five sons, Robert Thomas Peck and wife, Anita, Cumberland, Richard Floyd Peck and wife, Kathy, Cumberland, Leroy Lee Peck and wife, Christine, Hagerstown, Bruce Edward Peck and wife, Nitra, Cumberland, and Lyle Peck and wife, Leontyne, Cumberland; three daughters, Jacqueline Cooper and husband, John, Cumberland, Bonita Austin, Cumberland, Darlene "Shelly" Garner and husband, Mike, Frederick; a sister, Vivian Colbert and husband, William, Cumberland; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Theodore Higby officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
