Fort Cumberland Klan #37 of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan board a train at the Queen City Railroad Station enroute to the big KKK march in Washington, DC, in August 1925.

The following excerpt is from Cumberland, Maryland Through the Eyes of Herman J.Miller:

In November 1925, George M. Payne, a member of the Cumberland Police Department, died suddenly from a heart attack. The funeral was held from his residence on Decatur street with his pastor, Reverend D. M. Brown, of the Central Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Klansmen in robes attended the services, lining the streets to form a large aisle through which the remains were carried. Thousands of people attended the burial ceremony at the cemetery. The Klansmen of Fort Cumberland, Unit No. 37, had full charge of the ceremonies at the grave.
