CUMBERLAND
Robert Ellsworth Powell Sr., 79, of Cumberland, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1920, in Mount Union, Pa., he was the son of the late Wilbur and Pearl (Fields) Powell. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Powell; two brothers, Wilmont Powell and Donald Lee Powell; and one sister, Irene (Powell) Gilmore. Mr. Powell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Fulton Myers Post #153 American Legion and the Teamsters Local #453.

Surviving are his wife, Alma L. Powell; three daughters, Gloria Powell, Lena Mae Washington and Linda Trimble, all of Cumberland; five sons, Gilbert Powell, Robert Powell Jr., Gregory Powell, all of Cumberland, Ronald Powell, Harrisburg, Pa., and Joseph Powell, Cumberland; three brothers, Leonard Powell, Harrisburg, Raymond Powell, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Kenneth Brumback, Paw Paw, W.Va.; two sisters, Alice Murchison, Philadelphia, Pa., and Jean Spencer, Paw Paw; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Theodore Higby officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Darrell Powell, Darnell Powell, James Washington Jr., Christopher Powell, Gregory Powell Jr., and Shannon Trimble. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Trimble and Brandon Powell.

CUMBERLAND -
Alma Louise "Nat" Powell, 85, of Cumberland, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Allegany County Nursing Center.

Born June 1, 1921, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Allen) Spencer and James R. Robinson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ellsworth Powell Sr.; three children, Thomas and Margie Powell, infant twins, and Phyllis Ann Powell; four brothers, Charles Spencer, Bing Spencer, Leon Spencer and Belmont Spencer; and two sisters, Christine Fields and Roselene Fields.

Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Robert E. Powell Jr., Gilbert W. Powell and wife Renae, Gregory R. Powell Sr. and wife Janet, Cumberland, Ronald L. Powell, Seaford, Del., and Joseph P. Powell and wife Clara, Cumberland; daughters, Gloria L. Powell, Lena Washington, and Linda Trimble and husband Gerald, all of Cumberland; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James E. Spencer, Paw Paw, W.Va.; two sisters, Caroline Enos and Betty Lou Clark, Harrisburg, Pa.; and special niece, Janet Levi, Harrisburg.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Howard officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
