KEYSER, W.Va.- Samuel E. Washington, 78, of 540 Virginia Ave., Keyser, died on Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at his residence.
Born Feb. 3, 1920, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Clarence H. and Sarah M. (Rolls) Washington. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Rebecca (Davis) Washington, on Oct. 15, 1990.
Mr. Washington was retired from Westvaco. He was a former employee with the B&O Railroad, and was a parking lot attendant for the American Trust Bank. He was a member of Janes United Methodist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a Life Member of the Washington Post #152 American Legion, Keyser, and the Aubrey Stewart Post #5957 V.F.W., Piedmont. Surviving are his daughter, Ann S. Redman, South Windsor, Conn.; and a son, Vincent Fagan, San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Emma Lou McDonald, Keyser. He is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Edward Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
