CUMBERLAND - Shirley "Peach" Elaine Corthron, 65, of Cumberland, died on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at her home.

Born March 12, 1939, in Cumberland, she was the foster daughter of the late Mary and Halvin Edwards, and daughter of the late Hugh Beckwith and Margaret (Beckward) Beckwith. Mrs. Corthron was also preceded in death by her husband, James Leroye Corthron, 1985. A homemaker, Mrs. Corthron was a volunteer for Chapter One at the West Side Elementary School. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Boyd, Cumberland, Kia Corthron, New York City, N.Y., and Kara Corthron, New York City; her brothers, Leo Beckwith, Baltimore, Frederick Beckwith and his wife Rose, Baltimore and James Beckwith and his wife Faye, Cumberland; her sisters, Freda Bullett, Cumberland and Doris Taylor and her husband Ray, Cumberland; her cousins, Garnett Rawlings, Cumberland, Ennis McDonald and Thelma Stewart, both of Keyser, W.Va.; and five grandchildren; Kori Corthron, Danielle Boyd, April Boyd, Dan (D.J.) Boyd and Angela Steinmetz, all of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Alfred Deas Jr., officiating. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
