QUILT SQUARES CREATED FOR NEW MUSEUM
Fifth-grade students at Westernport Elementary School, under the direction of Heather Prince, art teacher, recently created quilt squares to commemorate the grand opening of the new Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in Baltimore.
The students were inspired by various African American figures. The students' quilt squares will be tied together, with others from across the state, to wrap the museum, forming a colorful ribbon which was "cut" during the opening ceremony. The museum is located on the corner of Pratt and President streets in Baltimore.
