Raymond W. Walker , 1938-2022, a Republican, was sworn in as Acting Clerk of the Circuit Court in June 1974 to complete the term of Paul Haberlein who passed away in office. Walker would serve seven terms beginning in 1974 through July 2001 as the Allegany County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Lee C. Barnett served as his campaign Treasurer.

Dawne D. Lindsey , a Republican, was appointed to the position of Allegany County Clerk of the Circuit Court in July 2001. She was later elected to the position in 2002, and in 2006, 2010 and
2014 ran unopposed in both the primary and general elections. Lindsey is the first female Allegany County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Darrell Lee Powell , a former television broadcast journalist, used the campaign slogan, “The People’s Reporter, Now the People’s Clerk” in his unsuccessful 2002 campaign for Clerk of the Circuit Court. Powell won the Democratic Primary on September 10, 2002 with 2,942 votes. However, although he garnered 5,188 votes in the November 5, 2002 General Election, he lost to the Republican candidate. The button depicted here from that campaign portrays a reference to his career and focus as a television broadcast journalist.

John J. Yeager and Cletus G. Bailer , both Democrats, were unsuccessful candidates for the office of Allegany County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
