James Cotton, 1930-2019, a Democrat, was elected to the Frostburg City Council in 2000 and served as Finance Commissioner for the City of Frostburg. He went on to be elected Mayor of Frostburg and served in that capacity from 2002-2006. Two items from his unsuccessful 2006 campaign for re-election are depicted on this page. Ed Hedrick was elected to the Cumberland City Council in 2000, and was re-elected in 2004. He chose not to seek re-election in 2008 for a third four-year term and left office in 2009. At his last city council meeting in December 2008, Hedrick was recognized for the work he did over his eight years in office to remedy the city’s blighted property situation.

Mike Wade, a Republican, was unsuccessful in his 2002 bid for election to the Board of Allegany County Commissioners. He ran again for County Commissioner in 2010 but lost in the September Republican primary. He was also unsuccessful as a write-in candidate in the November 2, 2010 General Election.

John J. Coyle (1921-2017), a Democrat, was elected to the Board of Allegany County Commissioners in 1974, was re-elected to that position in 1978, and served through 1982. James E. Coyle served as his campaign treasurer. This little campaign advertisement opens up to read:
