EXCELLENT ADVICE.

“Be as feminine as you can” was the advice to fifty suffragettes who were sent out in pairs last evening to make after-dinner calls on New York young men with a view to converting them to the cause.

This is sound advice. One of the stock objections in many minds to giving woman the vote is that they will be unsexed by taking an interest in government. Life, the clever satirical journal, has in picture and text hammered in this one point constantly, even going a step further and presenting husbands of sufferagettes of the future as effeminate creatures in appearance and wearing fluffy lace for cuffs and at the bottom of the trousers.

Wearing mannish-looking clothes is the worst thing, apparently, any suffragette can do, so those who have the advancement of the cause at heart should take warning. With the best intentions in the world Dr. Mary Walker, by combining dress reform with woman suffrage has dealt the equal franchise cause irreparable damage.
