Maplehurst Women's Golf Lessons, 1956

The Maplehurst Country Club in Frostburg was opened in 1956. This photograph from the Cumberland News, taken in that same year, depicts a group of twelve ladies taking golf lessons from the club pro, Buddy Rice, who is shown kneeling on the left.

To the best of our ability these ladies are identified as follows, from left to right, sitting: Ann Cook, Nadine Anthony, and unidentified; standing, left to right, Louise Bampton, Ethel Adams, Helen Cook, Helen Shryock, June Holben, Mary Pinto, Betts Prichard, unidentified, and Ruth Prichard.

Information supplied by: Elizabeth Myers, Rebecca Vardiman, Larry Hohing, Nelson Cleavenger, Paul Green, Gary Hanna and Mary Pinto.
