Sue Vauthier Raver, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Sue Vauthier Raver was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1948. She received her undergraduate education at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania in 1970, and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1974. Dr. Raver trained at the University of Maryland Hospital Department of Pediatrics and obtained Board Certification Pediatrics and Board Eligibility Neonatology between the years 1974 -1979. In 1980 she also acquired a Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) at the Johns Hopkins University, The School of Hygiene and Public Health.

In 1980 Dr. Raver located to Allegany County and began service as Medical Director for the Allegany County Health Department. Since that time her entire career has been in Public Health. She served as Medical Director until 1997, at which point she became Deputy Health Officer, serving in that position until June 2002. In July 2002, she became the second woman to serve as Health Officer for the Allegany County Health Department, a position she still holds.
       
Dr. Raver has worked continuously and collaboratively to assess the evolving health needs of the county in order to best utilize health department resources to promote the physical, mental and environmental health well-being of our residents and visitors, as well as to prevent disease and disability.

Dr. Sue Raver retired at the end of April 2015.
